r r 7973 79 section sa a TRUCK SERIES TOOL 500 QQQLO SPRING AEQJFRONT HOW TO FIND A FRONT SPRING PART NUMBER A COIL SPRINGS 1 Use the Model Application Chart a Determine the year model i flG G V W of the truck l G XW can be found on the vehicle warranty plate b Determine the wire diameter andror color coding of both front springs c Refe o hr ori dei Application Chart starting on page 5 of this section to determine which spring set is installed and the corresponding service part nurrbers d If a spring replacement is required order the correct spring as shown in the vehicle spring set e If a higher capacity spring set is required order the springs shown with the next higher rating at the ground Do not install higher capacity spring sets on F350 or Econoline Club Wagon vehicles 2 Use the Front Spring Cross Reference Chart a When a production identification tag located on the third coil from the bottom or a stamping number is available for quick reference of service part numbers refer to the Front Spring Cross Reference Chart which follows B LEAF SPRINGS 1 Use the Spring Identification Marking a Find the stamped number which appears on the spring b Refer to the Cross Reference Chart starting below to determine the correct service part number c After locating a service part number refer to group 5313 for available leaves d The identification marking also appears in the Moclel Applicalzion Chart on page 5 2 Use the Front Spring and U BoIt ll lodel Application Chart a Determine the year and model of the truck In addition it may be necessary to know the number of leaves or the spring identification marking b Refer to t he Model Application Chart starting on page 5 of this section to determine the correct service part number for the spring and u bolt c After locating a service part number refer to group 5313 for available spring leaves 3 Use the Size Chart a Refer to the size chart and determine the correct service part number by using the spring type and dimensions shown b After locating a service part number refer to group 5313 for available leaves C SPRING RATING They are 1 rating at the pad and 2 rating at the ground Bo1 h ratings are expressed in pounds Rating at Pad This figure represents the amount of weight above the pad which can actually be supported by the springs This incl the chassis body and payload weights Rating at Ground This figure incl the rating at pad plus the weight of components between the spring pad and ground These components incl axle bralces tires and wheels OCT i K l986 coernionr wsse A rono ivioron I T E K COMPANV New Issue
